Transitions
You don’t know when transitions end or how far you are into them. Maybe that’s what’s nice about fall. You know the leaves change from green to orange then red to brown and can easily see how far you are in this process. The predictability is comforting. That’s not the case for transitions within us. There’s no progress bar. Nothing visible to notify others that it’s even happening.
Some months are overlaid with meaning—October for changing seasons, January for new beginnings, summer months for adventure. There are no charts or almanacs for the changes within us, but they are just as persistent, beautiful, and necessary.
Music Listening Lab
On a recent visit, I stumbled across the Memphis Listening Lab. It’s rare to find places set aside purely for the enjoyment of beauty. It’s a non-profit that wants folks to enjoy their massive vinyl and CD collection in a beautiful space free of charge. A Memphis musician left his collection to create this listening lab experience. It’s well worth a visit if you’re into this kind of thing.
Pictures
I don’t have many words from myself in this newsletter, but I do have some photos I’ve enjoyed and perhaps you will too.
To pay close attention to and mostly accept your life, inside and out and around your body, is to be halfway home.
